Our Leadership

2022 -2023 Board of Trustees

Neil Harris - President

I am very pleased to serve as President of Temple Or Rishon. My wife, Lisa, and I have been members of the Temple for more than 25 years and live in Fair Oaks. We have one child, Charles, who is 25 years old and lives in Los Angeles. Many of our best friendships are with our fellow Or Rishon members. I have served on the Board, been Vice President of Education, President of Men’s club and a founding leader of the Safety and Security committee. I look forward to working with the Board and Congregation to further enhance TOR’s security and long-term financial stability. I’m also eager to build on the fantastic online collaboration developed during this COVID-19 pandemic to enhance our visibility in the Sacramento Region Jewish community and increase our membership. I am a Structural Engineer by training and experience, and recently retired from a senior management position with one of world’s largest engineering and architecture firms. In my free time, I play golf, walk and exercise regularly, binge-watch Netflix and enjoy worldwide travel.

Marc Dubin - Vice President

My name is Marc Dubin. My family has been members of Sunrise Jewish Congregation/Temple Or Rishon since 1983. Our son, Sam, was Bar Mitzvah in 2005 and our daughter, Miriam, and sons, Gabriel and Asher, were B’nai Mitvah in 2007. My wife, Ila, served as the Temple treasurer and on the Temple board a couple of times. I have served on the Temple board numerous times. My last position as Temple board secretary and now as vice president. Prior to these positions I served on both the Religious Committee and the Education Committee. I have also served the Sacramento Jewish community as a board member on the Board of Jewish Education for Sacramento. I am retired as a public school teacher and administrator and also from the United States Air Force as a Medical Service Corps officer. I now spend my time taking courses in theater and audio recording and serving as the technical director at two local high schools. Ila and I also served as volunteer ushers at the Harris Center for the Performing Arts and at the B Street Theatre. We also serve on the board of the Folsom Concert Association.

Nancy Lenoil - Trustee

My name is Nancy Lenoil and I have been a member of Temple Or Rishon since 1991. I am married to Robert Lenoil who regularly contributes his singing talent to TOR services. We were married at TOR and have two children growing up in the congregation. We live in El Dorado County, and, in 2013, started an informal effort to bring together TOR families in our area together for a monthly potluck Havdalah dinner to have a community activity closer to home. I served on a Rabbi Search Committee and was previously involved in the Sacramento community as a member of the Jewish Federation Board of Trustees and the National Young Leadership Cabinet. The TOR community has always been very important to me and my family.  I am happy to be on the Board to help support that our community. Professionally, I retired in 2019 as State Archivist of California, the first woman in state history to hold the position. I am a Certified Archivist Emeritus and a Distinguished Fellow of the Society of American Archivists.

Jeff Gordon - Treasurer

My wife Hilary and I relocated to the Sacramento area from the midwest just over twenty years ago in search of better weather and a job opportunity.  We have three children; Emma (19), Jane (16) and Drew (13), and are proud to say that they all have not only been B’nai Mitzva’d here at TOR but all under the guidance of Rabbi Rabishaw.  Over the years, I have enjoyed the community that has been created by TOR and look forward to enjoying lifelong friendships for years to come.  Outside of Temple Or Rishon, I enjoy skiing, triathloning and sailing.  At home,  we have a yard full of animals: chickens, ducks, dogs and Squiggy the  mini piggy.  Professionally, I am a financial advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors and have been in the financial services industry for over twenty five years.

 Erica Bobrow - Trustee

   Sheri Katz - Trustee

Shalom!  I am Sheri Katz and I have been a member of TOR for over 21 years.  I am married to Brian and we have two children, Suzie and Danny, who “grew up” in the congregation.  We live in Rocklin.  I love being a member of our TOR community and it has brought me many friends and great experiences.  Over the years, I have served on the Education Committee, the Membership Committee, the Religious Committee and now I am pleased to be serving on the Board of Directors.   I enjoy cooking, playing tennis and reading.

  Stephen Shumrak - Trustee

Jerry Weltsch - Trustee

My wife Loren and I relocated to Granite Bay from Silicon Valley in 2015, in search of a slower pace of life and a bit more space. Soon after, we found a warm and welcome community at Temple Or Rishon and became members. We have three children, Sam (17), Ryan (14), and Emmy (10), who are actively engaged in Or Rishon's TASTY and Hebrew School programs. Since joining Temple Or Rishon, I have become an active member of the Men's Club, teach both adult education and youth education classes, and participate on committees. I like to spend my free time reading, running, and hiking, biking, and traveling with my family and friends, as well as getting in the occasional round of frisbee golf. Professionally I work as a corporate communications leader for a software company based in the bay area.

Susan Stieber - Immediate Past President

My name is Susan Stieber and I have been on the Temple Or Rishon Board of Directors for over five years. I am currently the Immediate Past President and am honored to serve on the board with such dedicated and supportive members. I am married to Larry Stieber who is the Finance Committee Chair. Larry and I have three adult children who live locally with their spouses and six amazing grandchildren. We are both active at TOR because we feel an obligation to make sure that there is a strong Jewish community for the next generation and generations to come. I enjoy the friendships that I have made while being a part of TOR and look forward to the future growth of our TOR community.
