Our Leadership

2020 -2021 Board of Trustees

Susan Stieber - President

My name is Susan Stieber and I have been on the Temple Or Rishon Board of Directors for over three years. I am currently the Vice President and am honored to serve on the board with such dedicated and supportive members. I am married to Larry Stieber who is the Finance Committee Chair. Larry and I have three adult children who live locally with their spouses and six amazing grandchildren. We are both active at TOR because we feel an obligation to make sure that there is a strong Jewish community for the next generation and generations to come. I enjoy the friendships that I have made while being a part of TOR and look forward to the future growth of our TOR community.

David Abramowitz - Vice President

David joined TOR in 2007 after moving to CA from the NYC metro area. He has served on the board under three different temple Presidents, is an active member of the Safety and Security Committee, was Men's Club President for three years and is currently one of the co-presidents. David served on the Rabbi search committee, was part of the old Mitzvah Committee, and has lent his leadership to several other committees over the years. Outside of TOR, David is Manufacturing Business Manager for a manufacturing company, has a Master's in Business and Leadership, and is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt.

Rachel Wallace - Secretary

Shalom! My name is Rachel Wallace. My family became part of the Temple Or Rishon community in 2014, and immediately felt welcomed and 'at home.' My husband, Mike, and I have two children, Megan (17 years) and Corey (12 years). Temple Or Rishon is a place of both spirituality and friendships in which we feel comfortable as in interfaith couple, and feel grateful as parents that our children choose to be greatly involved with the activities and celebrations here. While this is my first term on the temple board, I enjoy Or Rishon Women, have helped with the annual gala, and contribute to various religious school events. In addition, I am an elementary school teacher and clean-eating food lover.

Stephen Fassler - Treasurer

My wife Beth and I joined TOR over twenty years ago and have three children that all participated in B’nai Mitzvahs at this temple.  We have been involved with multiple fund-raising activities as well as participating in many of the fun activities including adult retreats in Tahoe, camping, men’s club.  Our children are proud to be Jewish and have been counselors for Birthright, Camp Newman and Tasty.  Beth and I own a local business since 2003 providing technical support for clients involved in marketing and tradeshows.  I was born and raised in California with a degree in electronics from Cal Poly and a teaching credential for community colleges.  We are slowing down with our business so that we have more time to enjoy each other, golf and hike and travel the world.

Kimberly Olker - Immediate Past President

Hello. My name is Kimberly Olker, President of the TOR Board of Trustees. I have been part of TOR (originally as Sunrise Jewish Congregation) since moving to the area in 1993.  My husband Dave & I  were looking for a place where we felt comfortable as an interfaith couple… and this was it. After having our 2 sons, Daniel & Matthew, we officially joined TOR so that they could participate in the education program. Both boys went through the many years of Sunday school, Hebrew school, their Bar Mitzvah, TASTY, confirmation, & being a madrich. They are now both going to school on the east coast. I served on the TOR board for 4 years before this current position. I am a certified professional photographer specializing in portraiture and events. It’s especially fulfilling for me when I can attend TOR Bar/bat Mitzvah services while also capturing wonderful memories for the family. I also serve on the local board for PPSV, the Professional Photographers of Sacramento Valley.  I have seen Temple Or Rishon grow and change over the last ~25 years and look forward to being a part of the TOR community in the future.
