Teen Engagement
Teen Engagement
At Temple Or Rishon, we have many ways for our teens to be involved post b'nai mitzvah.
TASTY- Temple Or Rishon's youth group
Open to students in grades 8-12, TASTY kids get together for social events, learning opportunities and mitzvah projects. It's a great way to continue the connection to our Jewish community and to see the friends you made during religious school!
Teen OR
Continue your learning with Rabbi Rabishaw and our Youth director. Classes meet once per month on a Wednesday and cover topics unique to the Jewish teen experience. Teen OR also provides an opportunity for our youth to discuss topics that may be troubling them in their lives.
Confirmation
10th graders study with Rabbi Rabishaw, discussing the importance of Judaism in their world and confirming their commitment to Judaism. Classes meet once per month beginning in January. Confirmation celebration takes place in late May, usually concurrently with the holiday of Shavuot.
Madrichim Program
We love to have our post-b'nai mitzvah students return on Sundays to help with our Religious school program. Students work as Hebrew tutors, logistics helpers and classroom aides. Community service hours are available.
NFTY and Camp Newman
We want our kids to spend time with other Jewish teens. All of our TASTY youth group members are also members of NFTY - the National Federation of Temple Youth. Throughout the school year, teens have multiple opportunities to attend Jewish camp for the weekend. In addition, there are other cross-TYG (temple youth group) opportunities where our teens spend time socially with their peers from across the Sacramento region.
