Virtual Community

Click here for a special video message from Rabbis Rabishaw and Yakar.

Dear TOR, TBY and NTHC members and friends,

Though three separate congregations, we are together, not alone! Especially as we join forces to create online congregation and community during this time of physical distancing!

As promised we are proud to present a robust series of online opportunities and services for our TOR/TAHOE virtual community.  What follows is a list of (at least 2x per day) online classes, conversations and prayer opportunities that represent collaboration and a unique sharing of congregational and community resources.

This week’s online opportunities and services will be offered via Facebook Live and through Zoom.  For some, we understand, the technology is second nature, for others it is new and overwhelming. We are here to help! Each opportunity and service is shared together with a link--all you will need to do is “click” and follow the prompts.  We promise it will become easier over time. And you can always call or email with questions . . . just be patient and understanding!

Additionally, some programs will require accompanying material (such as texts for Torah study)--all such materials will be on this page, listed with the corresponding program, prior to the start of each service/program. Click here to view the programming.

If you are having trouble joining the Zoom Meetings or accessing Facebook Live, email Mary Frank - mary.frank@orrishon.org or send a text message to:  916-926-9018.

Wishing you a sense of peace and connection as we work together to create community, together, not alone.

L’shalom,

Rabbis Rabishaw, Yakar & Student Rabbi Lehrman,
Mary Frank, TOR Dir. of Education, Communications & Engagement
TOR/Tahoe Virtual Community

Post from March 19, 2020

Dear Friends,

At Temple Or Rishon (TOR), thanks to the hard work of our efforts to raise mental health awareness, we often use the phrase, “Together Not Alone.”  This mantra is especially true today.

As soon as it became clear that we were going to enter the “virtual” world and offer online services and programs Rabbi Alan Rabishaw of TOR and Rabbi Evon Yakar of Temple Bat Yam (TBY) in South Lake Tahoe and North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation (NTHC) in North Lake Tahoe agreed that our congregations needed to work together to love and support each other.

As a result, our TOR/TAHOE congregations will be working together to offer a robust series of online opportunities and services that will take advantage of our shared resources, and present at least two opportunities each day (except for Sundays) for our communities to connect, learn, and find support--”Together Not Alone.”

These online opportunities and services will be offered on Facebook Live, and through ZOOM.  For some, we understand, the technology is second nature, for others it is new and overwhelming.  We are here to help! Each opportunity and service will be shared together with a link--all you will need to do is “click” and follow the prompts.  We promise it will become easier over time. And you can always call or email with questions . . . just be patient and understanding! It sounds like we will have plenty of time to master this!

If you are having trouble joining the Zoom or accessing Facebook Live, email or send text message to:  916-926-9018. Mary Frank - mary.frank@orrishon.org
