Mitzvah Network

Temple Or Rishon is proud to have individuals who are dedicated to the caring of our community. Our Mitzvah Network encompasses the many different areas of care and need that people face during their lifetime.

The Temple Or Rishon Mitzvah Network is where we come to commit ourselves to mitzvah, and to share with others the love and joy that comes from bringing caring and compassion into our lives.

Caring for the world around us, caring for those who are closest to us, and caring more deeply for ourselves - this is what we do at Temple Or Rishon, this is who we are, this is why we exist!

Becoming more involved in Temple Or Rishon's Mitzvah Network, is a great way to engage in our community. For more information, please email us at volunteer@orrishon.org, or call the temple office!

2023 Mitzvah Day

Mitzvah Day on October 29, 2023 was a huge success. We had over 150 people participate, clocking over 400 hours of service to our community.

Project Details:

Einstein Center Libraries: Einstein Center assisted living facility has two separate libraries. A team will be purging the library of duplicates and worn out books, organizing the rest into sections and generally cleaning up the space.

Trail Clean Up:  Under direction of Friends of Lakes Folsom and Natoma (FOLFAN) and a State Park Ranger, we will be provided with disposable gloves, tools and training to clean up an area of the State Park that is in need of attention, which will be assigned the week prior to Mitzvah Day. Parking fees, if applicable, will be waived for our participants. This activity is appropriate for all ages. Walking on trails on uneven surfaces will be required, and trash bags could get heavy.

Keaton's Childhood Cancer Alliance: We have three projects scheduled for October 29th. One of them involves helping the organization move their materials from their storage space into a truck. The second two are projects to make cards and blankets for their patients - our religious school children will be helping with these as well. Monetary donations are needed for this project - Click here to donate funds.

Playground Clean Up and Planting: Nearby Ottomon Elementary in Orangevale is in need of some TLC. We will be planting flowers and plants in the front of the school and painting a sensory walk on their playground as well. Monetary donations are needed for this project - Click here to donate funds.

Gan Shalom clean up: A group will travel to our Gan Shalom section at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. We'll clean up and manicure the headstones and generally beautify the area.
